Catherine C. “Kay” Russo, 63, of Waltham, formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday, July 25th, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Kay was the beloved daughter of the late Camille (Ross) Russo. Kay was a 1960 graduate of Arlington High School where she was active as a member of the Field Hockey Team and Captain of the Tennis team. Kay was the recipient of the 1960 Frederick V. Ostergren Memorial Award, presented to the outstanding male and female athlete in the senior class by the Arlington Touchdown Club.
 
Kay graduated from Boston University, Sargent College with a degree in Physical Education. She returned to Boston University to earn a Masters Degree in Education. Throughout her adult life, Kay was an active member of the Boston University, Sargent College Alumni Association.
 
Kay taught and coached for over 20 years at Concord-Carlisle High School. More recently, Kay specialized in gerontology, where she enriched the lives of the individuals who were fortunate to be in her care.
 
Kay is survived by several beloved cousins, and many close friends, all of whom were blessed to share her loyalty, humor, companionship and good counsel for many years.
 
A Funeral was held on July 28th from the DeVito Funeral Home, Arlington. The funeral Mass was at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Contributions in Catherine Russo’s memory can be made to the Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre Street, Boston 02130.

I remember what a warm and friendly gal Kay Russo was to all during our high school years.  So many lovely members of our class are no longer here on earth but remain alive in our memories of them.
