Reunion2018 - Maine Wrap-up

by Peg Decharme

Greetings Classmates!

The AHS Class of 1960 Reunion2018 - Maine in York Beach was a wonderful success. This year's reunion began Tuesday, September 11th and was followed by a fun filled 3 days of events that suited everyone's taste.

On Tuesday evening, we gathered for our MEET & GREET in one of the function rooms at the Anchorage Inn, where we have our Lodging. We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, pizza and dessert. It was such a great night with all of our classmates from local areas plus those who traveled from as far as Wisconsin, Florida and Oregon to be with us and to share in the festivities.

On Wednesday morning, those who wished to play golf spent their day at the Cape Neddick Country Club, while others spent a leisurely day enjoying the many offerings in and around the York Beach area.

On Wednesday evening at 5pm, we all met at the Cape Neddick Country Club for a wonderful night of dancing to the tunes of the 50s. While appetizers and cocktails were served, we chatted with each other while DJ, Brian Phoenix of "The Music Man", entertained us.

Then we enjoyed a scrumptious barbecue that was hosted by the club and cooked to perfection while DJ, Brian Phoenix kept us busy answering questions about events and famous people from our past. Nostalgic goody bags filled with all of our favorite childhood candies were given as prizes to those who still have their memories somewhat intact.

Then we DANCED THE NIGHT AWAY to all the wonderful songs of the 50s. we STROLLED, we TWISTED and we JITTER BUGGED, all of us, on the dance floor together having the best time of our lives while our classmate, Tony Colozzi, scooted in and out and around the dance floor taking very professional pictures of all of us that you may view the "Classmate Photos" page of our class website. We thank you, Tony, for all your hard work and for sharing your very special talent with all of us. Then when all was said and done, we said our farewells and left the party with very happy hearts and very tired but happy feet.

On Thursday morning, thanks to John Locke and Elaine Jones, who were visiting from Florida and who had reminded us of the yummy breakfasts served at "Bintliff's Restaurant" in Ogunquit, we made a last minute reservation and 10 of us spent a wonderful morning enjoying our gourmet breakfasts while chatting away and eating way too much.

On Thursday evening we met at the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound for our very lovely GRAND FINALE DINNER. The weather was perfect so we, once again, were able to enjoy cocktails on the second floor deck of the restaurant overlooking the beautiful Cape Neddick River. Thank you, Art Poole, for posting the beautiful group photo taken of all of us that evening also on the "Classmate Photos" page of our class website.

Below is a photo of the participants in the GRAND FINALE DINNER on September 13.
