1942-05-07 1968-11-01I knew Paul from a very young age..from 5 yrs old to when he died at Symins hospital back in 1968... about 21 years ...he was way to young to die...somebody groofed at the hospital..he loved life and enjoyed playing baseball for many years in the AYA ..Arlington Youth Association and was a great pitcher and my brother Philly was his catcher and they did win some championship titles..Ara Avakian was there coach and mentor and helped them mature to fine young men..I loved Paul's family especially his MOM ..she was a wonderful loving person who always was so nice to us while we were growing up..We played golf together a few times even in our later years of life ..we always had a good relationship..many fond memories...We will meet again very soon on a cleansed earth free from sickness and death will be no more..That's a promise that Jesus gave to the person next to him on the torture stake..in essence to all of us..'You will be with me in Paradise'.... Luke 23:39-43His FriendChris Ligor
tribute by Chris LigorI remember Paul, but not during our Arlington High School Years. It was the summer before he passed away. (1968 sounds right.) At the time we were both in the Army National Guard of Mass. It was during our summer 1968 two-week active duty in Camp Drum New York where we became friends. We were both in the 1st Battalion 110th Armor HQ'd in Worcester Mass. We spent those two weeks shuttling ammo between 90mm tank ranges and the ammo dump ... a dirty job both Paul and I, well, endured mainly by cleansing our lungs with a 6-pack most every night. After summer camp, we both returned to our regular National Guard Jobs, me as Medical Platoon Sgt. and Paul in the Transportation platoon of our HQ Company in Worcester. We made plans to get together but he was hospitalized, I learned, shortly after summer camp. It must have been in November 1968, during a week-end drill, that I learned he had passed away. It's funny how after all these years you remember such details and how a re-kindled friendship, albiet short, resurects itself. and how Paul made that summer camp, on a dirty job, that much more bearable over 42 years ago!
