
John Henry "Jack" Squires, Jr.
2023-12-05 2013-02-08Jack was born in Boston. He grew up in Medford and then his family moved to Arlington. He was a graduate of Arlington High School. Jack was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was stationed in Ethiopia where he was a Military Police Officer and also ran the Laundry & Dry Cleaning Service. After being discharged from Active Duty, Jack served in the Army Reserves and lived in Washington D. C. where he continued to work for the Government Laundry Service. Jack worked for Polaroid in Waltham and New Bedford for over 20 years where he met his beloved wife Jean. Jack and Jean settled in Burlington in 1972. He then went to work for Digital Corp. in Andover. He owned his own Construction Co. as well, called Squires Construction. In 1999, Jack founded his own company in Burlington called LaserMaster, Inc. Jack led a full and active life. He was a member of the Marriott Health Club for over 20 years, past member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in Burlington, past Vice President of the Sons of Italy Lodge 2223, past President and Treasurer of the VWTOA Board of Directors, and member of the American Legion Post 273. Jack and Jean loved traveling and enjoyed cruising. They own a timeshare at Weirs Beach in Lake Winnipesaukee and also in Newport, Rhode Island.
The most important thing in Jack’s life was his family. His children and grandchildren brought much joy to his life. Jack was happiest when the house was filled with family, great friends, good food, and wine. He loved feeding the birds and had many bird feeders throughout his yard. He shared his joy of birds with his granddaughter Sydney and together they would fill the feeders. Jack and Jean had just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary in September. They renewed their vows at St. Malachy’s Church in an intimate ceremony with their children, grandchildren and immediate family.
